Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a musician to enroll?

No. An appreciation of music is the only requirement. Many BMGIM practitioners have no formal musical training.

What professional credentials do I need?

Level I is open to all backgrounds — the only prerequisite is an individual BMGIM session with an Atlantis trainer, which can be done in person or online. Levels II and III require a professional background in mental health, counseling, or a related field, and certification to practice as a therapist in your country.

Is the training available in my country?

Atlantis currently offers programs in the US, Korea, Japan, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia, with additional locations planned. Programs are offered in English, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese.

How long does the full training take?

The path from Level I to certification as a Fellow (FAMI) takes a minimum of two years, including practicum and supervision between modules.

Can I take the training online?

Yes. Each level is available in residential, online, or hybrid format. Some restrictions may apply for advanced levels.

I’m not a therapist. Can I experience BMGIM as a client?

Yes. Our trainers are all practicing BMGIM therapists and can offer individual sessions. You can find them on our faculty page, or contact us and we’ll connect you with a trainer in your region.

Do I need a referral to apply?

No referral is needed. You can inquire directly through this page. If you’ve been referred by a colleague or trainer, you’re welcome to mention it in your message.

How do I arrange the prerequisite BMGIM session for Level I?

Contact any of our trainers directly through the faculty page, or send us a message and we’ll help you find a trainer in your area. Sessions can be done in person or online.
